Coral Restoration with Tejido Aquavida
Help us maintain our coral nursery in Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Unlike other initiatives, our proposal reverses the narrative. Instead of you sponsoring a coral, the concept is: the coral sponsors you. This powerful approach highlights the symbiotic relationship and intrinsic value that reefs provide. They create the conditions for life, feed us, protect us from storms, and are generators of clean oxygen.
On your next dive, you can become a citizen scientist participating directly in the maintenance of coral nurseries of priority species and in the monitoring of rescued fragments (no collection). Every contribution generates a sustainable funding source for the Tejido Aquavida campaign by the Hurakaan Eco Táctica NGO.
This phase consists of dives dedicated to cleaning and refixing. We will use brushes to clean the attachment structures and the coral tissue (a massage that motivates them to grow), as well as refixing corals with zip ties or cement.
In this phase, we will gather crucial data to determine the growth and survival of the corals. We will use tools like measuring tapes and underwater writing slates to take 3D measurements, depth, and temperature.
If you wish to take your help further, you can become a guardian of your coral godfather with recurring donations. These plans are independent of the dive and are managed directly with the NGO.
